Thank you to my course-mates, studying for level two of the University of Surrey’s 'BSc Computing and Information Technology', for entrusting me with the responsibility of representing them in the academic year 2011-2012. This page is for the sole purpose of providing updates with what I’m doing and providing an easy, fast way to get in contact.
I believe that in a capitalist society, computing skills are worth little without the business acumen to monetise them. If computing professionals are unable to achieve this themselves, they will limit their earning potential. our programme is teaching us management skills, alongside the important computing skills; our potential salaries are unlimited.
Please make use of the feedback form on the right, using your real name and university email account. Any representative related work that I do will be recorded below, along with your comments, after they are approved.
I look forward to a proactive year,
Sam.
There are three subjects which I am currently hoping to address provided that I have the class' agreement:
- The lack of seating space in the 04AZ01 lecture theatre. Several people have mentioned that this is a problem.
- I'm interested to hear opinions about the degree title we're hoping to graduate with. My personal opinion is that we're studying CS and Management modules, and 'BSc Computing with Management' might be more attractive to an employer.
- Many class members expressed frustrations relating to our level one Accounting module, for the benefit of current and future level 1 students, I wish to make sure this is fed-back to our course and department leaders. Please let me know your opinions.
Especially on these last two comments - please use the comment form to voice your opinions. Also, if you know of other areas which need addressing, please let me know. :)

Liased with Dr. Andre Gruning, regarding the above three points, and plan to mention them at the board of studies in November if the majority are in favor of this.

I have spoken with 4 class-mates regarding last years accounting, today. Two of which were indifferent and wondered why I had mentioned it (now clarified above,) and two agreed that lectures were unpleasant. I have also been notified by a level 1 student that they are experiencing a similarly unhelpful teaching style this year. Please make sure to voice your opinions.
Sam Ames: Comments will appear above this example after they are approved. I am representing the class, so please ensure to voice your opinions.
